Film Review : Snowpiercer (Or Should I Say, SLAYPIERCER!)

Rare is the film that deftly weaves masterful storytelling, gripping action sequences, precise acting performances, and a biting social commentary on class warfare. Look no further than “Snowpiercer” to deliver all these elusive elements perfectly distilled and combined into what is perhaps a bravura masterpiece from acclaimed Korean auteur, Bong Joon-Ho. Adapted from the relatively obscure French graphic novel series originally titled “Le Transperceneige” created by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette, director Bong (who helmed previous hits such as “Mother”, “Memories Of Murder”, and “The Host”) bravely took the source material and by bucking against typical Hollywood filmmaking restrictions, he has delivered a tour-de-force experience that can comfortably rest alongside the greatest science-fiction films in cinematic history. Period.

Of Monsters And Men : New Promotional Images from “Monsters University” + “Snowpiercer”

Words cannot possibly express the unbridled joy I’m currently experiencing due to the wealth of potentially awesome movies that will be released in the coming summer months. Covering many of the crowd-pleasing film genres, I am definitely in for another year of cinematic excellence.

And the marketing teams of many big-name Hollywood studios are certainly flexing their advertising muscles by releasing a plethora of related media such as film stills, trailers, posters, and other creative forms of movie marketing. Two big films expected to wow audiences for this year’s summer movie season are clearly taking a savvy marketing turn by showcasing some impressive and intriguing images that give a more or less definitive insight on how the respective movies will play out. If you haven’t figured it out by now after looking at this post’s banner image and title, I am obviously taking about “Monsters University” and “Snowpiercer“.

With the summer movie season of 2013 about to kick into high gear in the coming weeks, I’m definitely excited about the upcoming features that are ready to blow my mind. Encompassing a wide variety of genres, 2013 is certainly shaping up to be another good year for films. On this note, I would like to highlight one of the movies that have unquestionably held my deep interest since its announcement. That movie happens to be the science fiction drama thriller piece entitled “Snowpiercer”.
